MERIT Employee Spotlight is a series featuring team members introducing themselves, outlining their role at MERIT, and explaining why they chose to work in the clinical trials industry.
What is your role at MERIT?
As a Business Development Associate supporting MERIT’s oncology team, I often get to be the first point of contact with clients. My day-to-day focuses on building relationships with sponsors, understanding their imaging endpoint needs, and developing tailored proposals. I support opportunities from initial outreach all the way through contract negotiations and account management.
Why did you get into clinical research?
I was drawn to clinical research because it offered the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives while combining my interests in relationship building and business operations. Growing up around family members who worked in the medical field gave me an early appreciation for the work that supports patients, and seeing the impact of cancer within my own family made oncology especially meaningful to me.
What do you like about working at MERIT?
What I enjoy most about working at MERIT is the combination of the work itself, the people, and the range of opportunities the role provides. I love meeting and connecting with clinical teams across a range of oncology programs and supporting them as they move their trials forward. I also really value how collaborative the teams across MERIT are. I especially look forward to conferences and other opportunities to connect with my colleagues in person!
What do you do in your free time?
Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends, traveling, and trying new restaurants, especially Farm-to-Table concepts! I am also an avid reader; I recently enjoyed Think Again by Adam Grant, and my all-time favorite is The Great Gatsby. I enjoy staying active through pilates, tennis, and golf!
