ARVO 2026 | Poster 3929-0143 May 6, 2026
Ronald P. Danis, MD, FARVO, and colleagues at MERIT, Wills Eye Hospital, and Mid Atlantic Retina compared two OCT-based methods for detecting iRORA, an early warning sign for progression to geographic atrophy in age-related macular degeneration. Using 37 eyes from 23 participants, the team found high agreement between manual en face grading and an automated layer-loss analysis approach, suggesting the automated method could offer an efficient path for tracking iRORA in future studies.

SNO 2025 | Poster IMG-143 Nov. 21, 2025
Michael J. Ciesielski, PhD, and colleagues at MimiVax, MERIT, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center evaluated an AI-based volumetric segmentation pipeline for assessing treatment response in glioblastoma. In a pilot cohort of eight patients, automated 3D measurements showed 70-80% concordance with manual RANO 2.0 assessments, and five of eight patients showed differing progression or pseudoprogression calls between 2D and 3D methods, underscoring how measurement approach can shape response classification in glioma trials.

ARVO 2025 | Poster 6372 May 4, 2025
Hasenin Al-khersan, MD, and colleagues at Retina Consultants of Texas and MERIT characterized ORC™, a novel OCT-derived en face imaging method for measuring geographic atrophy in age-related macular degeneration. In a pilot cohort of 29 eyes, atrophy areas measured by ORC closely matched those measured by fundus autofluorescence, while also distinguishing between complete and incomplete atrophy and revealing fibrosis, findings not visible on autofluorescence alone.

CNS Summit | November 10, 2023
Seokyeong (Gene) Kim, PharmD, and Catherine Chintala, PMP, of MERIT present findings from the STAR pilot study, which tested MERIT’s EXCELSIOR imaging platform in a global, multi-reader oncology trial using mRECIST HCC criteria. The cloud-based platform improved real-time workflow tracking, data transparency, and collaboration among radiologists across the US, Europe, and China, while helping address common pitfalls in RECIST-based lesion assessment.
