Project Manager III

MERIT Employee Spotlight is a series featuring team members introducing themselves, outlining their role at MERIT, and explaining why they chose to work in the clinical trials industry.

What is your role at MERIT?

As a Project Manager at MERIT, I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of the studies I manage. This includes organizing and prioritizing tasks, preparing study materials, attending project meetings, and maintaining communication with stakeholders. I contribute to process development, documentation management, and data processing, ensuring adherence to timelines and study protocols. Additionally, I am responsible for assisting in all phases of study conduct, supporting the project from start-up through closeout.

What do you like about working at MERIT?

I thoroughly enjoy my work environment, particularly the friendship with my colleagues and the overall positive atmosphere. Contributing to clinical trials is deeply rewarding, knowing that my efforts play a part in advancing medical research and improving patient outcomes. The flexibility of remote work allows me to balance my professional responsibilities with personal commitments effectively. I also appreciate the continuous learning opportunities inherent in this field, which keep me engaged and motivated to expand my skills and knowledge base.

How do you see your position/department fitting into the company as a whole?

The Project Management team ensures that trials are conducted efficiently, adhere to regulatory standards, and meet client expectations, thereby contributing to the company’s reputation for delivering high-quality research services.

How did you get into clinical research?

After graduating with a degree in journalism and mass communications, my career journey initially led me to a direct mail advertising company. However, as the landscape of advertising evolved with the rise of online platforms and the decline of traditional mail advertising, I found myself seeking new opportunities. I switched my focus to clinical research and have now worked in the clinical research field for over 13 years.

What do you do in your free time?

In my spare time, I enjoy golfing, camping, UTVing, and kickboxing with friends, while also cherishing moments spent with my husband, two teenage children, and miniature schnauzer. We like to stay active and keep busy. We can also never pass up a good costume party!
