MERIT Employee Spotlight is a series featuring team members introducing themselves, outlining their role at MERIT, and explaining why they chose to work in the clinical trials industry.
What is your role at MERIT?
I am an Ophthalmology Account Lead. Day to day, I manage current partnerships and help build new ones with sponsor companies looking to evaluate clinical stage treatments for the eye. In my role, I’m fortunate enough to develop the relationship from the early planning stages onwards, working to get all stakeholders aligned so that the operational goals of the study are achieved as smoothly as possible.
What do you like about working at MERIT?
I really like the size of the company and the exposure to different elements of the business it allows me. The work is interesting, problems aren’t cookie-cutter, and everyone’s efforts contribute to the advancement of worthy goals. The team is friendly, collaborative, and extremely technically and scientifically capable, so it’s an excellent environment to learn in, too!
What is your background?
I spent the first handful of years at the beginning of my career at an Ophthalmology exclusive full-service CRO. I started by working on the marketing team fresh out of college, which gave me a general introduction to everything involved in ophthalmic clinical trials, and a heightened awareness of the patient experience. After a few years, I was given the opportunity to rotate internally onto the business development team, which I took, and have stuck with that track since.
What do you do in your free time?
I live near Worcester, MA. Most of my free time I enjoy spending with family and friends. I play cards and board games, bowl and golf quite poorly, and snowboard with defensible proficiency. You will also occasionally find me reading a book.
