MERIT Employee Spotlight is a series featuring team members introducing themselves, outlining their role at MERIT, and explaining why they chose to work in the clinical trials industry.
What is your role at MERIT?
As an Oncology Business Development Associate, my role focuses on identifying potential clients we can partner with to help bring their clinical trials to life. I work to build relationships, educate prospects on what sets us apart, and guide them through the process from first conversation to signed partnership.
What do you like about working at MERIT?
Honestly, it’s hard to narrow down, but three things stand out: the people, the culture, and the opportunities. My coworkers teach me something new every day and bring such diverse backgrounds and perspectives. The culture makes it easy to collaborate and feel supported, even when things get busy. And the opportunities really are endless: from the people you meet to the industry insight you gain along the way.
Why did you get into clinical research?
I’ve always been drawn to work that feels meaningful, and clinical research checks that box in a way few other fields do. Personally, I’ve had several family members and loved ones affected by cancer, so being able to feel like I’m contributing in some way to finding new therapies means a lot to me. Science itself has not always come naturally to me, but connecting with people and building relationships does, and that combination is what makes this work so rewarding.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, you’ll usually find me going to or teaching a yoga class, trying out a new café, or thrifting. Phoenix has amazing restaurants, so I never say no to trying a new place. I also love to travel and visit family, and I’m always up for a good solo backpacking trip.
